Supporters travelling to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup in November may be forced to stay in tents that are based in the desert due to a squeeze on available accommodation.

The final tournament runs between November 21 and December 18 in the Middle East with fans from 32 countries descending on the five host cities that include capital Doha as well as Lusail, Al Khor, Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah.

Although the majority of fans will be offered up hotel spaces for the duration of their stay, a creative solution is needed in addition to the 100,000 rooms, as detailed by Qatari organisation planning accommodation boss Omar Al Jaber.

n addition, 1000 tents will be on offer to make up the numbers during the four-week event, with their location named as a 'fan village' on the Doha outskirts.

The tents are said to have pre-fabricated cabins, with some being advertised for a fee of £161 per night, and have running water and power generators - but no air conditioning.

However, the weather isn't expected to be too uncomfortable during the tournament, with predictions of 29 degrees Celsius at the very hottest.
